Hillsborough County School Access and Circulation

Hillsborough County School Safety, Circulation and Access Program (SSCAP)

Hillsborough County selected David Nelson Construction as its Design-Build Contractor for the design and construction of revised access, circulation and safety at 22 different schools throughout the county. The object  of this project was to reduce the traffic congestion around the school zone and improve the vehicle storage capacity at the parent student drop off and pick up locations.   We had to coordinate with all permitting agencies, school principals, parent organizations and other interested parties and perform construction so as not to impede or interfere with school operations.  We divided the schools by complexity of design and permitting, then by proximity, and then devoted teams to expedite the design and construction process.

 

While the individual scope of work at any one school was not overwhelming, the coordination and execution of a project of this diversity was extremely challenging, rewarding and successful.

 

The schools included in this project include:

Alonso High, Bay Crest Elementary, Bing Elementary, Boyette Springs Elementary, Brandon High, Burnett Middle, Burns Middle, Carrollwood Elementary, Crestwood Elementary, Dickenson Elementary, Durant High, Hill Middle, Leto High, Lithia  Springs Elementary, Mango Elementary, Mintz Elementary, Morgan Woods Elementary, Mulrennan Middle, Northwest Elementary, Pride Elementary, Symmes Elementary, and Twin Lakes Elementary
