Jim Walters Blvd and East Service Road
This project consisted of an asphalt overlay of an existing public roadway (Jim Walter Boulevard) as well as the reconstruction of an existing service road at Tampa International Airport.
The Jim Walter Boulevard scope of work included the installation of a reinforcing fabric interlayer and 2,400 tons of asphalt paving along with pavement marking, asphalt demolition, crack repairs, milling, shoulder dressing and maintenance of traffic.
The East Service Road Rehabilitation included 19,000 SY of concrete pavement removal, 14,000 SY of base construction and 2,000 tons of asphalt paving along with earthwork, pavement marking, drainage improvements, electrical improvements, erosion control, sodding and maintenance of traffic. The East Service Road work took place within the secured operations area at the airport.
There were also isolated milling and resurfacing repairs performed at the airport’s taxicab holding area and one of the cargo tunnels. This work had to be closely scheduled with airport operations so as to not affect the airport’s functionality during the busy holiday season.
