East Gateway Stormwater & Sanitary Sewer Improvements
This project consisted of storm and sanitary sewer improvements along with related roadway reconstruction in the East Gateway neighborhood of Clearwater. The project area was bordered by Cleveland St to north and east, Missouri Ave to the west Court St./Gulf to Bay to the south.
Some of the major scope elements included installation of 12,500 feet of gravity sanitary sewer main, 70 sewer manholes and the replacement of 250 sewer laterals along with the demo of 13,000 feet of existing sanitary sewer; installation of 11,000 feet of new 15” to 36" RCP storm sewer main, approximately 160 storm structures and 5 new storm baffle boxes along with the associated demo of over 8,000 feet of existing storm and 90 structures; installation of 1,500 feet of new 20” DIP water main as well as 15 water and reclaimed water main offsets to accommodate new storm and sanitary sewer. The storm and sewer construction necessitated the reconstruction of nearly 16,000 feet of two-lane roadways including new concrete curb & gutter, sidewalks and ramps, stabilizer and base, asphalt paving, striping and sod.
The project required extensive coordination and phasing to maintain residential traffic as well as existing drainage throughout the project. All of the work was completed while maintaining the traffic flow on the existing roads utilizing multiple detours and construction phases.
