Whitcomb and Kreamer Bayou-ACOE
This project consisted of two sites: Whitcomb Bayou and Kreamer Bayou. The eastern and southern shorelines along both bayous were experiencing significant erosion over a long period of time. This erosion was threatening the adjacent roadways that are important transportation corridors for the city as well as critical hurricane evacuation routes. The intent of this contract was to install revetment along the shorelines to reduce future bank erosion. Work under this contract included: clearing and grubbing; excavation; installation of 3,000 cubic yards of granite rip rap; installation of 1,400 feet of 9’ long steel sheet pile; installation of 205 feet of 37’ long steel sheet pile; installation of 1,605 feet of cast in place concrete cap along the eastern and southern shorelines of Whitcomb Bayou and Kreamer Bayou.
