Tampa International Airport Pavement Rehabilitation
The runway, taxiways, and apron concrete pavement at Tampa International Airport was in need of repairs. Some of the 16 inch thick concrete slabs were cracked, some had spalls, and the sealant in the joints in the concrete pavement needed replacing. To do this work required a contractor with experience in concrete pavement and experience working at airports with active runways as the work required runway and taxiway closures with firm open and close dates. Hillsborough County Aviation Authority awarded the job to DNCC and work began in October of 2010. Some of the major elements of the work included 3,500 sy of 16” concrete pavement removal and replacement, 723,000 lf of joint sealant removal and replacement, 341,500 sf of airfield pavement markings, grooving, and runway lighting. The project was completed on time in June of 2010.
